Varuvatai
Also known as: Varuvas, Varus, Vatai, and Vaties; the term "Fool's Angel" has become rather common place among other species through the centuries, but is seen as a rather offensive term and is often taken more as an insult such as calling a vampire "leech", and lycan "mutt", or a fairy "bug". Other derogatory terms for the race include, but are not limited to: Fear Eaters, Fear Suckers, Fear Drinkers, Fear Drainers, Fear Takers, and Fear Hunters; note, for subspecies of the race which feed on different emotions, 'fear' could be replaced with the emotion they consume.

Varuvatai are a humanoid species believed to be related to demons which posses feathered wings often in a shade of white or gold to resemble those typically imagined to belong to angels, though other colors have appeared through mutation, including darker shades of golding leading on into brown, and even black, and the very rare appearance of subtle shades of red. Some stories tell of varuvas who were born with bright red wings, though there is no actual record or proof of this being a possible trait.
Varuvatai are often said to be 'beautiful', helping to fit in to the cultural 'angelic' trope, having near flawless skin and perfect body builds. Most are tall and slender with fair or dark skin, often holding a warm glow. However, their soft and elegant appearance ends there, most noticeably in their face, though tell tale signs lie all over their form.
With three sets of narrow, almond shaped eyes, they already make quite the shocking appearance in comparison to the common visual of an angel. Their eyes contain a single slit pupil each, on a field of solid color with no white visible, and range in color from bright acid green, to phosphorescent blue, and even red equal to that of human blood, among many other bright and vibrant colors. Rarely are varuva eyes dull or dark in color, nor are they typically pastel, those in rare cases, they may be somewhat more earthy tones like those of humans, but must mostly lie on the brighter end of the spectrum.
Their eyes, however, are not the only 'off' thing about their appearance. From the scale-like markingsadorning their face and arms, to their pointed ears, varus definitely aren't exactly what one pictures when they think of an angel-- unless one is going by the true representation of angels, though even then, they don't quiet match up. Despite being pointed, their ears tend to have a notch on the outer rim which causes them to have two points to each ear, or even in some cases three due to a certain genetic mutation.
Most iconic, however, varuva posses long, serpentine fangs, and a long, thin tongue to match. As a result, many varuvatai are known to speak with a light lisp, and a soft hiss with certain words and syllables. As stated, varuva have scale-like markings, which typically are seen around their eyes, namely along their cheekbones, and on their shoulders and upper arms. These markings are classified as simply such, as while they resemble scales, they are not scales at all, but rather, patches of skin which are either dark or lighter than the rest of the varuvatai's skin. These marking also make their away along the varu's back, settling around the base of the wings.
Varuvatai don't have traditional blood types like humans or other species, but rather, have their own set or blood types, which like the human cast, is divided into positive and negative. However, when it comes to varuva blood, the positive and negative classifications refer to the type of emotion(s) they consume, in that depending on the emotion, their blood type is the opposite. E.g. A varuvatai who feeds off of fear, would have a positive blood type. This is because the energy of the emotions balances out the energies of their blood to set their overall energy to neutral.
In addition, varuva blood types determine the color of their blood. Varuvatai blood follows the RGB color properties, and is always the extreme and full of each given color, possessing a translucent quality, meaning that it is slightly transparent, and holds a subtle glow, which explains the glow their skin appears to contain. The varuva blood types work as the following

* V blood is extremely rare, having a 15% average
** Unlike human blood types, negative blood cannot be received by positive, and the same goes for the opposite of human blood types, i.e. positive cannot be donated to a holder of negative blood.
Note: The blood type letters come from the Tamil names for red, blue, green, and white, respectively: civappu, paccai, nila, and villai
